A contractor is someone who receives income from a contract but are not employed on a permanent basis. This could be individuals who are self-employed and pay their own tax, it could also be individuals who are employed via an umbrella company and deduct their tax; or someone who is employed on a short-term contract, which could be 12 months for example.
Each lender will use a contractor’s income differently and will have a specific policy in place for these individuals. Some lenders may require a specific amount of experience or time contracting, and some will treat you as employed and others as self-employed.
We will take the time to review how your contract works and the amount of experience and time you have in contracting, and prepare a solution for you. We have dealt with a large number of contractors in different types of job roles.
